Elimination of trachoma as a public health problem in Ghana: Providing evidence through a pre-validation survey
Sunday, December 31, 2017This article presents results from the survey to validate the elimination of trachoma in Ghana. The elimination criteria for active trachoma infection and trichiasis have been achieved in all but one district – Yendi – where trichiasis criteria were not met. The authors state that Ghana has nearly eliminated trachoma as a public health problem. Following an evaluation of Yendi, a dossier will be submitted to the World Health Organization to validate Ghana as having eliminated trachoma as a public health problem.
