Providing Care and Support to Children of Female Sex Workers: Training for Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Program Staff

Providing Care and Support to Children of Female Sex Workers Facilitator Guide

November 2021 — Children of female sex workers (CFSWs) are a highly vulnerable group of children due to their exposure to a combination of health, social, and economic risk factors. These children often live in extreme poverty, experience food insecurity, have poor access to essential services, and are at increased risk of HIV infection, as well as physical, emotional, and sexual violence, and school dropout. Many of these risks are the result of stigma, discrimination, and social exclusion due to their mothers’ sex work.

The purpose of this training curriculum is to strengthen the capacity of program staff and community cadres to deliver services that meet the special needs of CFSWs (and their families) and are stigma-free, and key population (KP) and child friendly.
